If Kanazawa’s article was better written and with appropriate scientific methodologies utilized, would it have been as damaging to Black American women as the racist taxonomic classifications of humans to the human race. As a "respected" website, I would expect more from the contributors that are allowed to grace your site. However, sensationalism has proven to trump science, yet again!
Ms. Perina, you are personally responsible for this rubbish, as editor-and-chief of “Psychology Today”. And as a woman, you should be ashamed of your self for allowing the Eurocentric ideologies of beauty to parade itself as honest scientific analysis. Granted, he did not list white women as the most attractive, one could infer from his argument, that he would have made this classification.
Do you have any idea how black women are consistently accosted by media, either are hair is not long enough, our skin is too dark, or our noses boldly defy angular limitations. According to a recent study black women's voices are not heard compared to different races and the male gender, so not only are we not heard, but apparently we are a blight to society's eyes.
WE are amazing, strong and beautiful OUR curves defy gravity and our skin grows more resilient with age that is why “Black don’t crack.” Vogue Italia’s best-selling issue in history featured it's first ever all black models issue. Please think twice before allowing pseudo-psychology to be printed and presented as science.
Enough is enough,
Natalie Sablon
